Can You Get A Legal Music Download?
Downloadable, top quality music is a really appealing concept to many people, but many of us want to stay the right side of the law. There are some compelling reasons to download music: it is a great way to check out a track or two from an unknown artist before splashing out on the CD; it offers the downloader unrivaled ease - a few moments after deciding on a track, it is yours. And streaming songs are sometimes available for instant listening.
So what is the deal with the law? Many people will remember Napster being taken to court for encouraging file-sharing for free among peers. This court case judged that people sharing files in this way are breaking the law - the fact that money isn't changing hands and no- one is profiting from it does not matter. Of course file sharing still goes on over peer to peer (P2P) networks (though not via Napster). Interestingly, recent research has shown that P2P is increasingly being used for legitimate file sharing - photos, files and so on - and not just for swapping copyrighted material.
If you want to stay the right side of the law, you should not download copyrighted material from the Internet. But the fact that this practice continues shows how many people think downloading their tunes is the best way to go. So if you want the convenience and ease without transgressing, how do you do it?
There are a variety of ways you can do it. With a decent connection such as broadband you will be able to get access to lots of great music from Internet Radio or from other web sites that play newly released albums - it often happens that the artist and record company has approved the streaming of their recently released albums. Streaming offers you the chance to listen to the album when it is playing but without getting your own copy downloaded. Closer to going to the store and listening to it on the headphones, but in the comfort of your home. Some useful sites to visit are MP3.com, Launch.com (a Yahoo site), search for Internet Radio via Google, or go to http://www.ytube.com. On these sites you can see and listen to music videos too.
So much for streaming, but lots of us want the files on our PC so we can copy it down to our MP3 devices. It is time to look at those sites where you pay to own the tracks you want. Macintosh's iTunes site, designed to get the best from the iPod, is at www.itunes.com - it is the top site at the moment. You are charged ninety nine cents for each song you download, but the quality is excellent and the track is yours to keep.
Other sites are always fighting for this lucrative market, each offering similar but slightly different services. There are many that work on a monthly-fee basis rather than billing by track. And a new and slightly different concept is mercora (www.mercora.com). Here you pay a small monthly fee and share tracks - you broadcast your tracks (you can make like a DJ if you want) whilst you record the tracks broadcast by others. Mercora pays a fee for broadcast rights which makes it within the law.
Most of these sites offer a free trial, so why not give a few a go, pick up some free tracks and decide which service you like best.

Are You Looking For Banjo Lessons
The first time I had a banjo lesson it was a mess. In retrospect it wasnt actually my very 1st banjo lesson. The truth is that I have been participating with online banjo lessons and truly thought I knew how to play. At the time I was a teen eager to learn. So I started digging around on the world wide web.
There was an internet site with a man strumming which you could actually get this file, and musical tabs which allowed you to follow along with the music. I had my very 1st banjo lesson online a few months back, and even though I slacked a bit, learning those couple of banjo songs still kept me interested, and even though I ended up ignoring the majority of the others, I actually thought I was making progress.
When I first actually took my 1st banjo lesson it was a huge upset for me. I entered the music room and try to brag how good I was. Here is a great music site http://www.mywebrelease.com. My instructor stared at me and I immediately stumbled on my first fretting of a chord. The banjo is my very first musical instrument and certainly the first time I played in front of a one man audience. I have great public speaking skills, so I am baffled why it was nearly impossible to play in front of one music instructor. The overall process of playing in front of him should be a breeze, correct? Absolutely not! It was awful.
It is truly a mystery how I will be able to learn anything at my banjo lessons if I struggle to play in front of my instructor. My instructor does make time for me, and on top of that he is a superior banjo player. He did show me some stretching techniques which I will apply before my next banjo lesson, and it was a huge stepping stone for me. To add more to that I love how much I learn just from our one on one experience where I get to observe him play. But reality sits in, will my banjo playing skills sound at all any better at my next banjo lesson.
If I continue to fumble my playing when he is around, how will my instructor be able to tell if I am getting any better. To look at it even deeper, how will he know I am trying to learn what he taught me from the last lesson. It will be nearly impossible to gain advice if I cant strum a chord while he is in the room. So what I decided to do was record myself playing the banjo so he can truly listen to me. From the start, it might be difficult to strum, understanding that I am recording the music so I can show my instructor at my next banjo lesson, but in the long run it will become a breeze.

The Shawshank Redemption (DVD) Review
Nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, The Shawshank Redemption amazingly failed to win a single Oscar. Its amazing because its probably one of the top ten best films ever produced. Based on Stephen Kings short story Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, the film transcends the typical intellectually and spiritually bankrupt Hollywood entertainment of the modern era with an onscreen artistry that is the closest well probably ever see to poetry in moving pictures. With masterful performances by Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, audience members will find themselves engrossed in a tragic story wrought with suspense at every turn.
The Shawshank Redemption focuses on the life of Andy Dufresne (Robbins), a prominent banker convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. Sent to Shawshank prison in the summer of 1947, the inmates bet on which of the new arrivals will be the first to crack. Ellis Red Redding (Freeman), an institutional fixture and the man who can provide anything for a price, puts his money on Andy. But much to his surprise, Andy doesnt make a sound.
Over time, Andy and Red develop a close friendship, and Red procures a small rock hammer for Andy. As the years go by, he procures other items as well, the most interesting being Rita Hayworth. Red acquires a poster of the screen siren for Andy, and business continues as usual in Shawshank. Along the way, Andy ingratiates himself with the notorious prison guard Byron Hadley (Clancy Brown) and Warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton). Putting his outside skills to good use, Andy provides tax advice and tax preparation services to guards not just at Shawshank, but other prisons as well.
Eventually, in exchange for a comprehensive prison library, he ends up running a massive money laundering operation for Norton leveraging prison labor in exchange for lucrative kickbacks. But all goes awry when Shawshanks newest prisoner, a young punk named Tommy (Gil Bellows) comes forward with shocking information. Andy, whos spent twenty years in Shawshank prison, might be innocent after all The revelation ruins lives and destroys Andys prison sanctuary, but its Warden Norton and his associates who are ruined when the beautiful pin-up Raquel Welch reveals her hidden secret.
Directed by Frank Darabont, producer of such hit films as The Green Mile (1999) and The Majestic (2001), The Shawshank Redemption is a film of absolute breathtaking perfection that ranks near the top of most lists of the best films ever produced. Thomas Newmans musical score, reused in countless films in the years since its release, blends together with brilliant casting, memorable screen performance, and masterful set design to create an unmatched and timeless epic. If you havent seen The Shawshank Redemption, you arent just missing out on a great film, but a great life experience as well. Do yourself a favor and see this movie.
